HISTORY OF THE LEOPARD 2A6
- The Leopard 2 was developed during the 1970s to replace the Leopard 1 in the armoured forces of West Germany.
- It entered service in 1979 and received continuous improvements to its technology, armament and protection.
- The A6 version incorporated a 120 mm Rheinmetall L/55 gun and third-generation composite armour.
