HISTORY OF THE VEHICLE
The Semovente L40 was developed from the L6/40 light tank to provide artillery support and fulfil tank destroyer duties. It replaced the turret with an open-top casemate mounting the 47/32 Mod. 1935 anti-tank gun. It was used by Italian forces in Libya, Tunisia and the Italian campaign; after the armistice, some units were assigned second-line duties with the Wehrmacht and Luftwaffe ground troops.
