HISTORY OF THE SCHNELLBOOT S-100
- The development of German torpedo boats began in the late 1920s, based on a design derived from a civilian yacht adapted to carry two torpedoes.
- The S-100 series incorporated a distinctive armoured superstructure in response to the growing threat of low-level Allied air attacks.
- These boats operated mainly at night against Allied shipping in the coastal waters of the British Isles, as well as operating in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea.
