HISTORY OF THE REAL AIRCRAFT
The C.R.42 Falco was developed by Fiat in the late 1930s based on experience with the C.R.32 Freccia. It retained fixed landing gear and an open cockpit, with an aluminium and steel structure covered in metal and fabric. Its air-cooled Fiat A.74 radial engine enabled it to reach 400 km/h; it was notable for its manoeuvrability, although the biplane configuration limited its performance compared with more modern monoplane fighters.
