HISTORY OF THE F-5E TIGER II
- The Northrop F-5 was developed in the 1960s as a simple, economical and easy-to-maintain multirole fighter for various NATO countries.
- The F-5E Tiger II evolution appeared in the early 1970s with two J85-GE-21 engines, a lengthened and widened fuselage, greater range and updated avionics.
- Its basic armament included two 20 mm cannons, and it could employ different combinations of air-to-air missiles while retaining its ground-attack capability.
