HISTORY OF THE REAL AIRCRAFT
The F/A-18E derives from the McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet and features a larger and heavier design, with revised wings, new air intakes and an improved tail configuration. It entered service with the United States Navy in the early 2000s to replace the F-14 Tomcat in fleet air defence missions. It is equipped with an internal 20 mm M61 cannon and can employ air-to-air missiles and air-to-surface weapons.
