MODEL HISTORY
The Saab JAS 39 Gripen entered service during the second half of the 1990s as an evolution of the Saab 37 Viggen. The two-seat variant was developed for advanced pilot training and retained the performance of the single-seat version, while adding flexibility for reconnaissance and ground-attack missions. According to Italeri, its aerodynamic configuration favours manoeuvrability, reaches Mach 2.0 and can carry a varied offensive payload.
