VEHICLE HISTORY
The Elefant was developed for the Wehrmacht's anti-tank units based on the VK 45.01 (P) chassis. The first vehicles were named Ferdinand in honour of Ferdinand Porsche and made their debut in the Battle of Kursk. The examples still operational at the end of 1943 were upgraded to the standard that received the definitive designation Elefant.
