HISTORY OF THE CARRO ARMATO M13/40
- The M13/40 entered service with the Italian Regio Esercito in 1940.
- It was designed to replace earlier models, considered insufficient against the British vehicles encountered in North Africa.
- It was the first Italian tank of national design equipped with a 47 mm gun in the turret.
- Italeri states that it was used extensively on all fronts until the 1943 armistice.
