VEHICLE HISTORY
- The Camionetta Desertica model 42 was developed for the Italian Army based on the chassis and mechanics of the AB 41 armoured vehicle.
- Its development responded to the need for a reconnaissance vehicle adapted to driving conditions on sand on the African front.
- Several dozen units were manufactured. After the fall of the African front, the surviving AS-42 vehicles continued to be used in Italy by police units during the 1950s.
