HISTORY OF THE AFRIKA KORPS
Italeri places the dispatch of the first troops of the Deutsche Afrika Korps to North Africa in February 1941, following the loss of Cyrenaica. The unit, led by General Erwin Rommel, recaptured Cyrenaica and Tobruk and advanced towards Egypt, before being defeated by the British 8th Army at El Alamein and progressively withdrawing to Tunisia in 1943.
