HISTORY OF THE FIAT 131 ABARTH
- Derived from the two-door Fiat saloon, it received Abarth modifications such as a lightweight body, widened wheel arches and air intakes to improve mechanical cooling.
- It was equipped with a longitudinally mounted front four-cylinder in-line engine, a light-alloy cylinder head and four valves per cylinder.
- Manufactured from 1976, it competed in the World Rally Championship and achieved three constructors' titles, one FIA Drivers' Cup and one drivers' championship. It took part in international competitions until 1982.
