MODEL HISTORY
The Volkswagen Golf was introduced in spring 1974. Its first series, produced between 1974 and 1983, combined a water-cooled front engine, front-wheel drive and a robust body with functional design. The sporty Golf GTI version was presented at the 1975 Frankfurt Motor Show with a 1,600 cc engine and 110 hp; series production began the following year.
