HISTORY OF THE AMX-T
- The AMX “Ghibli” originated from a joint project by the Italian and Brazilian aviation industries.
- The programme began in the 1980s to replace the Italian Air Force’s Fiat G-91Y aircraft and the MB-326 aircraft operated by Brazil.
- The two-seat AMX-T version was developed for advanced training and could also be used for ground-attack and close-support missions.
- Italy incorporated 26 AMX-T aircraft into its Air Force.
