HISTORY OF THE REAL AIRCRAFT
- During the 1950s, Northrop developed a lightweight, single-seat, manoeuvrable and cost-effective fighter to meet the needs of various NATO air forces.
- The F-5A version used two General Electric J85-GE-13 engines, reached 1,700 km/h and featured two 20 mm cannons in the nose.
- Its capability for air defence and ground-attack missions encouraged its adoption by numerous air forces.
