HISTORY OF THE FIAT CR.42 FALCO
- Fiat developed the CR.42 in the late 1930s based on the experience gained with the CR.32 “Freccia”.
- The aircraft featured fixed landing gear, an open cockpit and an alloy-and-steel structure with fabric coverings and metal panels.
- It was powered by an air-cooled Fiat A.74 radial engine and reached 400 km/h according to information published by Italeri.
- Several CR.42s took part in the Battle of Britain as part of the Corpo Aereo Italiano.
