HISTORY OF THE F-104G “RECCE”
The Lockheed F-104 Starfighter began its career in the late 1950s and remained in service with some air forces until the mid-2000s. The F-104G was manufactured under licence by various European aerospace industries and, from the mid-1960s, served as a standard interceptor in several NATO countries. Over time, it also took on reconnaissance duties using the external Orpheus pod.
