The Schwimmwagen was the amphibious variant developed by Ferdinand Porsche from the Volkswagen 82 Kübelwagen. Italeri states that its low weight made it easier to cross muddy terrain and that it was suitable for reconnaissance and liaison missions where waterways had to be crossed.
